Repeat this with the other mounting bracket and extension arm piece. Secure the dunk latch within the outer guard area and align the holes at the ends of each. The outer guard and dunk latch will be nestled within the inner guard and backboard brackets. Attach the dunk latch, outer guard and extension arms together. This is done by screwing in two long bolts through the extension arms into the dunk latch, the outer guard and the dunk latch, in that order.

Raise the dunk latch and outer guard so the holes in these line up with the holes in the upper extension arms. Now secure the dunk latch and outer guard with two more screws so these two pieces are connected to the upper extension arms. Place the fully assembled rim and backboard assembly close to the completed pole assembly. Secure the extension arms to the pole assembly by placing one long screw through the top right extension arm, pole and top left extension arm.

Repeat this procedure by placing a long screw through the bottom right extension arm, the pole and bottom left extension arm.

Fill the base with water or sand to provide a counterbalance for the backboard and to ensure the goal only moves when it is actively moved and not during basketball game play or competition. Attach the netting around the base of the rim. After the netting is in place, push up on the rim with a long broom handle or pole to set the rim to the desired height.

Always ensure two people are working on the assembly of the goal. This will ensure safety in case the goal falls over. The additional person can also hold objects in place to make screwing and securing objects easier. Joshua Bailey has been writing articles since with work appearing at Bodybuilding.
