Atax survival tool for sale
I'd have to get my hands on one and play with it. I'm thinking a new casting with a different blade profile and it could be useful. I'd probably toss it in the truck to have on hand GreyOne Elder Lifetime Supporter. Bushcraft Friend. They could be used as is for a knife substitute- think "ulu", and a stick could be screwed in from the bottom IIRC, to give a handle for hatchet use.
Never had one, but played with one a time or two. The idea is interesting, and could be very useful for a kit item if made from really good , well heat treated steel with a decent edge profile.
They were more than a cracker jack gimmick, but never got taken real seriously. Joined Nov 26, Messages 17, Likes 29, Location DancesWithaTrout Guest. I have two of the Charter Arms Skatchets in the orig package blister packed. I never used one yet. Just kept em for resale at a later date. Sure are a hunk of steel though.

A Trail Hawke is a better chopper and tool over all. DancesWithaTrout said:. Snake Eyes said:. Well that depends on your perspective i'm sure it was good for Mr Hood Turtle , Oct 23, I prefer the Crovel that is listed on the web link. That is a much more usefull tool in my book!! Yard Dart , Oct 24, I'd love to have one to test over a weekend. I was seriously thinking about buying just for trying, then I looked at the price!
Hork, cough. Sorry but it just isn't that good. I guess that in the end an item is worth what one is willing to pay for it, not a nickle more, not a penny less. ExHelot , Oct 26, I have a machete by Gerber with a back edge saw I'd take over this thing. I have seen the Grovel in action as well.
Noisey, not impressed, though there is a Chinese military shovel that was pretty impressive. ExHelot likes this. ExHelot , Oct 29, ExHelot , Nov 1, Doesn't appear practical to me.
Katherine Chance , Nov 1, I just looked at some of the " action shots " of the ATAX I suspect that it started off as him designing a tool for himself and having TOPS build it for him and maybe afterwards they decided to try to sell a few. The ATAX can grip the nuts and save you from going nuts! The "ULU" edge on the knife makes a super skinning tool. In fact that was one of the most important features we designed into the tool. One quick swipe and the skin parts so you can get at the goodies. The rounded edge lets you slip into tight places to cut tissue without slicing holes in the skin.
It holds an edge like a razor. When we were developing this tool, all of the local outfitters begged us to borrow our prototypes.
Now they own the real thing. The rangefinder is simplicity itself to learn to use. It is plenty accurate for bow hunting and great for hunters. One of the unique features of the tool is the divot used as both a fire bow bearing and a leveler for direction finding. The ATAX hangs easily on your belt and never gets in the way like big choppers can. The Heavy duty Kydex sheath is reversible for left or right hand use.
The unusual design of the sheath allows for a "Quick draw" while still keeping the blade secured during periods of heavy activity. The handle is a nice starting point but for finer carving and shaving this grip works great too. Each person will find many ways to hold the tool. The video identifies all of the parts of the tool so you know what we are talking about at all times.
Here we look at the survival kit. Incidentally, the survival kit chamber in the handle measures 2. With a twig and a few drops of water you can tell directions and time of day. Laser engraving helps you to determine lots of information about your environment. The included video tape instructs you in the use of this unique graphic. It was in the afternoon when this shot was taken.
Can you tell how we know that?
